Ritual: My Morning Meditation

Ritual: My Morning Meditation

Hello loves!

I wanted to begin sharing with you the little self-care rituals with a big impact that I have incorporated into my daily life to allow me to center, empower, and connect with my Self and my higher stream of consciousness. I believe it is so important to focus your energy and act with intention to create your best, most authentic, fulfilling life. So as my gift to you, this week I’m going to share my morning meditation ritual.

“It’s all about getting my mindset ready for the day before I even open my eyes.”

I absolutely cannot get out of the bed if I don’t put my head in the right space, so what is essential for me to get my day started is my morning meditation. When I wake up first thing in the morning, and I’m still in that theta-state where I’m not quite asleep but not quite awake – I’m just floating in that present state of awareness – is say my morning prayer.

Years ago, when I graduated from college and was getting back into my own sense of spirituality, my spiritual healer gave me a book by Marianne Williamson called Return to Prayer. She said, “This is the prayer book you need to have in order to get back into learning how to pray spiritually.” And let’s just say, I’ve basically torn the book in half from how many times I’ve read it, but this is my ritual. This is my church. For over 20 years, I have followed the teachings within these words and now they are a part of me and my every day. It takes around 10 minutes, I lie in bed with my eyes closed reciting my prayer and then I feel ready and centered to open my eyes to the light and begin my day.

Marianne Morning Prayer
Dear God,
I give this day to You
May my mind stay centered on the things of spirit.
May I not be tempted to stray from love.
As I begin this day, I open to receive You.
Please enter where You already abide.
May my mind and heart be pure and true,
and may I not deviate from the things of goodness.
May I see the love and innocence in all
mankind, behind the masks we all wear and
the illusions of this worldly plane.
I surrender to You my doings this day.
I ask only that they serve You and the healing of the world.
May I bring Your love and goodness with me, to
give unto others wherever I go.
Make me the person You would have me be.
Direct my footsteps, and show me what You
would have me do.
Make the world a safer, more beautiful place.
Bless all Your creatures.

I hope you find joy and empowerment within the comfort of these words, as I do. Below I have listed a few of my favorite pieces that further my feeling of enlightenment, harmony and balance.

Love,
Joy
